The town of Blyth is situated on the North East coast in Northumberland. In this DVD we take a Sentimental Journey of this famous town and see how it once looked. This DVD is the follow - up to Blyth “A Journey Through Time” and we begin by looking at the Market in Blyth with archive footage. We then move to the streets and see how they have changed over the years. Even living conditions are for you to witness as we step back to the 1950’s and see how a family lived with fantastic film. We go to school and again the footage shows us how it was in the 1950’s. A good few public houses have had name changes over the years and indeed some have disappeared. Witness first hand the pubs and inside too as we take a trip back in time. The clubs and the leek shows are all on view too and even how to grow them. We go shopping and again visit shops past and present and decimalisation came into being and we have this too for you on archive film. We even take a trip inside a butchers shop of days long gone. The coal mines have long gone, but we look at Bates Colliery and there is archive footage of very early coal mining. See young lads working on the surface screens and the miners having a bath. But a big day on the calendar is remembered as we go to the miners picnic. See the brass bands and the banners. We have the speeches and the fairground attractions. Just to witness the fashion, old cars and vans are a something special at the picnic. We even visit Blyth beach in the 50’s and witness families enjoying a day out. See them putting up their tents that they hired, their deckchairs and having fun. Shipbuilding is also on film and we look back at this once prominent industry. There is so much more, but we know you will enjoy this Sentimental Journey around Blyth. Total running time approx 60 minutes. Copyright Six-T Media…… 2011
